James Harnden started Harnden Commercial Brokers in April of 2014.
Jim is a 7th generation Maine resident and has over 30 years of Commercial Experience in the Greater Portland market. As Principal at Harnden Commercial Brokers, he is able to apply his expertise to a full range of transactions including lease renewals, relocations, consolidations, build-to-suit developments, speculative development lease-ups and dispositions, with a concentration on markets throughout Southern Maine.
Throughout his career, Jim has been recognized as an innovative and trusted commercial real estate professional, applying strong market knowledge to work for a wide range of local, regional, and national clients.
Jim is a graduate of the Whittemore School of Business and Economics, now the Peter T. Paul School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a minor in Real Estate.
In support of community engagement, Jim has donated his time and energy to several Boards and Committees. He is an immediate past-Chair of the Greater Portland Economic Development Corporation and the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce, and has served Board terms at Maine & Company, the Intown Portland Exchange, Piper Shores, The Cumberland Club, the Morrison Developmental Center, and the Maine Real Estate Development Association (MEREDA). In addition, he is past-Fellow of the Institute for Civic Leadership and past-President of Portland’s Downtown District.
